The lawyer representing men who claim they were sexually abused by Roman Catholic priest George Smith says unfortunately, it's an all too familiar scenario. Four of the nine men are being represented by Greg Stack with possibly more to come. Stack has represented victims of Father Kevin Bennett during the Mount Cashel investigation. Stack says these men want to know why the Catholic church ignored what was going on. Stack says there are all kinds of similarities between this case and those in the past.

Stack says the Diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador is aware there will be civil actions. He says the new Bishop, Peter Hundt, has to decide whether he will follow in the footsteps of one of his predecessors, Bishop Raymond Lahey, who took allegations of sex abuse against Father Kevin Bennett all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. Stack says he could be more moderate and decide that he is going to help these victims. He says it will be interesting to see which path Bishop Hundt chooses.
