In response to reports that the Vatican had purchased the domain "vatican.xxx” - most likely to protect against misuse, as the ".xxx" domain extension is used for “adult” websites - Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Press Office of the Holy See, explained that "actually this domain name isn't available, as it was purchased by someone - but not the Vatican,” SIR reports.
"It's not the case," added the Vatican spokesman, "that this domain was purchased by the Holy see or entities owned by it."
