A man who sued the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington in 2002 over alleged sexual abuse by a priest has lost his bid for an appeal.

The Kentucky Supreme Court declined to hear the appeal of Samuel Greywolf, who said he was abused by a priest as a teenager in the 1970s.

The court's Dec. 14 filing contained no comment. The court declined to review earlier rulings by the Court of Appeals and Fayette County Circuit Court dismissing Greywolf's case. The Court of Appeals ruled in August that Greywolf filed his lawsuit too late, even though the diocese's internal documents confirmed that the priest named in the lawsuit was a sexual abuser.

Greywolf's attorney, Charles Arnold, told The Courier-Journal, "Regrettably, it's the end of the road" for the case.
