In an op ed in The New York Times, ex-Massachusetts Congressman Joe Kennedy, II., cites a recent report from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis suggesting that “oil prices have become disconnected from the costs of extraction (so) speculators account for as much as 40 percent of the high price of oil”. . .In the same edition, it was reported that Newt Gingrich (who failed to get on the Missouri GOP ballot) wrote a $500 check for the filing fee for Utah’s June primary. It bounced. . .Forest Hills Country Club’s Board of Directors announce that they have recently added Gideon Traub as the new Head Golf Professional. A PGA Golf Professional of 9 years, Traub has a wealth of experience working at multiple country clubs across the country. A native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Traub most recently served as First Assistant PGA Professional at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the past four years. . . Fr. Maurice Nutt, one-time pastor of St. Alphonsus “Rock” Catholic church on North Grand, has moved again. After being accused of sexually harassing two police officers, he resigned from the city police board in 2001, left town in 2002, resurfaced in Memphis in 2005, and is now apparently in Chicago’s Old Town section with the Redemptorist Mission Preaching Team.For years, he held key leadership posts at Alexian Brothers Health Systems. . .Now, in retirement, Deno Fabbre bikes, gardens, and tutors kids according to the latest issue of the Gateway Greening newsletter… Rumors are flying among Catholic insiders that former St. Louis archbishop and now Cardinal Raymond Burke may soon be tapped to be head the “Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith” (formerly known as “The Inquisition”) commonly called the CDF). Cardinal William Levada, former head of the San Francisco Archdiocese, holds the post now. His predecessor was Cardinal Josef Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict. . .
