Blunder ... Fr McVeigh accidentally showed gay porn

PARENTS were furious when they were told a priest who accidentally showed gay porn images at a school would KEEP his job.

Catholic church officials held a meeting with locals in Pomeroy, Co Tyrone, on Friday night.

A statement was read out, acquitting parish priest Fr Martin McVeigh of wrongdoing — but it was withdrawn after the meeting.

Many parishioners were unhappy after hearing the statement, which is understood to have said there was NO evidence against the priest.

An Archdiocese spokesman said matters had proved "inconclusive".

One resident said: "Parents and parishioners are disgruntled and angry."

It is believed they also heard the memory stick containing the porn had been destroyed before church investigators could examine it.

Fr McVeigh has been granted temporary leave while the probe into how he flashed 16 explicit sex images during a projector presentation on First Communion continues.

Around 30 parents and an eight-year-old child saw the Powerpoint display at St Mary's primary school in Pomeroy.

Fr McVeigh stopped the presentation before RUNNING out without explanation.

One parishioner said: "He gave no explanation or apology to the group and bolted."

Cardinal Sean Brady said: "The priest stated he had no knowledge of the imagery. He is co-operating with an investigation."
