Investigators in Orange County said Brian Shriner traveled to meet up with what he thought was a minor for sex.

ORLANDO -- Investigators in Orange County said a man arrested for traveling to meet up with what he thought was a minor for sex is a father, teacher and Episcopalian priest.

According to investigators, Brian Gerald Shriner sparked up a conversation in May with an undercover Orange County sheriff's detective posing as a minor online.

They agreed to meet up Friday morning in Winter Springs. But when Shriner showed up, he was arrested.

Investigators said Shriner is a teacher at The Geneva School in Orlando, and assists as a priest at New Covenant Anglican Church in Winter Springs. The Geneva School now says Shriner has been fired.

Geneva School's Board of Trustees issued the following statement Saturday:

The Geneva School Board of Trustees considers the student's safety and welfare the highest priority. We are aware of the recent arrest of Mr. Brian Shriner and we will cooperate with local law enforcement in the investigation. We are not aware of any instances with Mr. Shriner during his employment at The Geneva School. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement background check was conducted on Mr. Shriner on time of hire and subsequently in 2010, in accordance with school policy, which had no history or reason for concern. Effective immediately, Mr. Shriner has been terminated from employment. While state and federal privacy laws prevent us from publicly discussing details about these allegations or the persons involved, we are not aware of any impropriety or involvement of a Geneva student.

Shriner is also the father of two children, both juveniles.
