The Archdiocese of Philadelphia says it has determined that two more priests are not suitable for ministry because of allegations of inappropriate conduct, however, church officials have refused to outline the specific allegations.

In making final decisions in six additional cases, Archbishop Charles Chaput says two more suspended priests will be permanently barred from ministry because of what the church calls “a substantial violation” of the “Standards of Ministerial Behavior and Boundaries.”

The Archdiocese says neither was due to “a substantiated allegation of sexual abuse of a minor.”

Four other suspended priests will return to ministry.

The Archbishop inherited a critical grand jury report that came out before he was installed last year, after which 26 priests were suspended by his predecessor, Cardinal Justin Rigali.

In May, Archbishop Chaput announced the resolution of eight cases: five priests were found to be unsuitable for ministry while three others were cleared. A ninth priest died during the investigation.

The Archdiocese says due to the ongoing process, there is no indication as to when the resolutions of the remaining cases will be made.
