Former Waterford Pastor Charged with Child Porn Possession Arraigned

Dennis Carey, the former Waterford pastor who police said admitted he has an addiction to child pornography, made an appearance Monday in court.

Carey, 65, appeared with attorney Ronald Stevens in New London’s Part A court, where a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf to move the case to the pretrial phase. The case was continued to Aug. 13.

Police say computers and computer equipment seized from the rectory at St. Paul in Chains Church on Rope Ferry Road in Waterford contained 338 files of suspected child pornography.

Free on bond, Carey is under standing orders not to have contact with children and is now living at a seminary in Cromwell.
