Angel Armando Perez, 46

The priest of a Catholic church in Woodburn who is accused of sexually touching a 12-year-old Salem boy was expected to enter a plea this morning, but set a new date in the case instead.

Angel Armando Perez, 46, faces charges of first-degree sex abuse, using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, four counts of delivering alcohol to a minor, tampering with evidence and driving under the influence of intoxicants.

The boy reported that he had spent the night on an air mattress at Perez's house and awoke to the Perez touching his genitals and taking pictures with his cell phone, court record states.

The boy ran from the priest's Woodburn house while Perez chased him down the street in his underwear, the court record states. Residents standing outside at the time took the boy to his sister's house, where he told her "Father Angel touched me in my privates," according to court documents.

A court hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 25.
