Local Priest Charged

A priest with a long history of sexually related offences has been charged again with historical sexually based offences. Linus Bastien was arrested at his Chatham retirement home yesterday morning. Police say the offences occurred between 1963 and 1970 while he was a priest at St. Charles Parish in the village of Stephenson in what was then the township of Tilbury East. Bastien served as a priest for 40 years at 10 area parishes with the London Diocese. He has been charged multiple times over the last four decades with sexually related offences. Police say specifics on the current charges will not be released to protect the integrity of the investigation.
