Monsignor Kevin Wallin, a Catholic priest, was arrested in a bust in Connecticut. He allegedly dealt crystal meth, but wasn't officially relieved of his duties until church officials found out he was a cross-dresser who liked to have sex in the rectory of St.Augustine Cathedral in Bridgeport, CT. CT Post reports:

Now dubbed "Msgr. Meth" by some, Wallin seemed to live a life that easily could have been ripped from the script of "Breaking Bad," the popular AMC series about a high school chemistry teacher turned crystal methamphetamine producer. At one point, Wallin was selling upwards of $9,000 of meth a week, according to his indictment.

In his post-priesthood, Wallin, 61, bought an adult specialty and video store in North Haven called Land of Oz that sells sex toys and X-rated DVDs. Investigators believe the shop helped him launder thousands of dollars in weekly profits.

Although he was relieved of his duties, and resigned citing health problems in 2011, Wallin continued to receive a stipend until he was arrested on January 3, 2013 in a joint investigation by the DEA and Bridgeport State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force. Apparently he had planned to fly to London on that day. He was indicted on six counts by a federal grand jury in Bridgeport and faces life in prison if convicted.

The news caused shock and consternation amongst the community of Bridgeport and Fairfield County, who saw him as a compassionate priest. The drug ring he was allegedly involved in spanned from Connecticut to California, according to authorities. In a related article, CT Post adds:

Investigators used court-authorized wire taps, controlled drug buys, physical surveillance and undercover officers to unravel the conspiracy, authorities said. Agents raided Wallin's apartment on Golden Hill Street in Waterbury on Jan. 3 and found suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and drug packaging materials, according to the indictment.

Federal officials said Wallin allegedly received drug shipments from co-conspirators in California on six occasions between September 2012 and January 2013. An undercover officer then purchased the drugs from Wallin, officials said.

The New York Daily News reports that even though Wallin hasn't had contact with the diocese since he left, the Church is still trying to reach out to him.
