A former Chesapeake Police Department chaplain was arrested and charged Wednesday after police said he exposed himself to someone posing as a 14-year-old girl in an online chatroom.

Haden Conrad, 32, of the 1200 block of Orville Avenue, was charged with computer solicitation of a child under the age of 15, said Kelly O'Sullivan, a Chesapeake police spokeswoman, in a news release. He is being held at the Chesapeake City Jail.

Police served simultaneous search warrants Wednesday on Conrad's Orville Road home and job located in the 1200 block of Chesapeake Avenue following an investigation by the police department's Internet Crimes Against Children unit, O'Sullivan said. Police released few details Thursday about the case.

Conrad is accused of exposing his genitals to an undercover Spotsylvania County Sheriff's deputy using a camera on his computer , O'Sullivan said. The deputy was posing as a 14-year-old girl in an online chat room, O'Sullivan said.

Conrad served as police department chaplain from May 2012 until his arrest Wednesday, O'Sullivan said. Chaplains are volunteers who support police by assisting them with death notifications, working with victims and sometimes doing ride-alongs, O'Sullivan said.
