A Sandy man is facing multiple counts of felony charges for alleged sexual encounters with a young teen boy whom he met at church.

Prosecutors on Monday filed four counts of sodomy, two counts of aggravated sexual abuse and one count of dealing in harmful materials to a child against 62-year-old Michael Driggs in Salt Lake City’s 3rd District Court.

A judge also issued an arrest warrant for Driggs.

Driggs was not in custody on Monday night and it was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.

A woman who answered the phone at Driggs’ listed residence said he no longer lived there.

In court papers, prosecutors allege Driggs met the boy, then 12, at church in January 2004. In statements made to Unified Police investigators, the boy said Driggs helped him set up an e-mail address and then began to show him pornographic movies and photos on the Internet. The boy also told police that Driggs later touched his penis and that they engaged in oral sex, court paper state. The alleged abuse occurred at Driggs’ home and continued until the boy was 13, according to the documents.

Court papers also show that Driggs was previously convicted of sexual conduct with a minor in Maricopa County, Arizona and is a registered sex offender.
