Community Concerns of the recent arrest of Charles Nave, who was charged with child porn, were addressed during a service at his church on Sunday.

Nave's mother is an Associate Pastor at Sanibel Community Church, and his wife and kids are members.

To the surprise of some, both attended services Sunday morning where the issue was brought up.

Behind the sacred walls, the pastor delivered his sermon.

"If we hide stuff it will always take us further than we intended it to go and will cost us more than we thought it would," said Pastor Daryl Donovan.

Pastor Donovan delivered that message to address obvious questions about the arrest of Charles Nave -- known to many as 'Chad.'

The family man is now charged with possession of child porn.

"I felt no restraint on what I might be able to say from the pulpit I didn't feel like I had to tip toe around that I could just go right and talk with the issue with the church," said Pastor Donovan.

A different type of scripture was titled "Concerning the Arrest of Chad Nave"

"I just think that if Chad had been able way back to bring this out and deal with it this could have been prevented," he added.

The statement was handed out to the congregation to address concerns from the public.

"Is the church somehow supporting or condoning somehow what's happened here and we wanted to say very clearly… absolutely not," he said.

As for his future involvement, the pastor said: "he's not going to be on the campus and that every precaution has been taken to make sure all the children are absolutely safe."

Despite the darkness, Pastor Donovan looks toward the light.

Seeing Nave's wife and kids attend the service is part of moving forward.

"You could feel shame you could feel all those kinds of things are people going to ask these probing questions but they felt safe to here today they felt loved and supported," he said.

Pastor Donovan tells us Nave was not a church youth leader nor did he work directly with children at the church.

But because he did have access to areas where children gathered, they did run a background check which came back clean.

Nave is currently living with his parents on the island under a strict set of court guidelines.

We tried to talk to him today, but we didn't hear back.
