Pastor Accused of Assaulting Elderly Woman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A local pastor is facing charges after he was accused of molesting an 87-year-old woman.

Rolando Rodriguez of the Light & Hope Methodist Church in Pawtucket appeared in Providence District Court Thursday on a charge of second-degree assault.

"He arrived at the house earlier in the day, after small talk she is sitting there - he stand up, walks over, and pull her into his crotch area," said a prosecutor.

The alleged incident that happened on July 17 forced the woman to defend herself.

"The only thing she could do to defend herself was to bite him in that area," the prosecutor stated.

According to police, the woman tried to file a police report three times due to a language barrier.

Rodriguez made the $25,000 surety bail and was released, the judge also ordered no contact between him and the victim.
