Frequent visitor to our town and yesteryear concert booker for the Muny, Jerry Weintraub, is prepping a sequel to his 2011 memoir to be titled “76 & Still Relevant.” The “Behind the Candelabra” producer says he isn’t writing about the women in his life (his wife and girlfriend) and joked, “Remember John Wayne Bobbitt?”. . .It’s been a month now since a civil child sex abuse lawsuit was filed against Archbishop Robert Carlson based on accusations that one of his priests, Fr. Joseph Jiang, molested a girl. The suit contained an incendiary charge that Carlson broke criminal evidence tampering laws by asking the girl’s parents for a $20k check Jiang reportedly gave them after Jiang admitted abusing the girl. Often pedophile priest cases are mentioned in the weekly St. Louis Review archdiocesan newspaper. So far, however, not a word about this unusual accusation has appeared. . .A casting call by 20th Century-Fox for its lensing of the movie, “Gone Girl,” will take place Saturday in Cape Girardeau. The call is for “background extras.” (In my early career, studios used that as a ploy for pre-publicity.). . .On Sept. 15, CNN will air the documentary, “Prince William’s Passion; New Father, New Hope,” which will include the first interview with the Prince since the birth of his and Kate’s baby.
