Rev. Robert Brennan, a 75-year-old former Philly priest has been charged with assaulting a altar boy over the course of four years in the late 90s and early 2000s. The alleged abuse began when the boy was 11.

[District Attorney Seth] Williams said the alleged assaults occurred when Brennan was an assistant pastor at Resurrection of Our Lord Church in Northeast Philadelphia. According to Williams, some of the assaults happened on church grounds, Brennan’s bedroom and a movie theater.

Williams says that the Archdiocese reported the complaint the day it learned about it, this past January. He also claims the Archdiocese knew that Brennan had abused 20 boys over the course of his tenure. Brennan, who was named in the 2005 grand jury report regarding child sex abuse by Philadelphia clergymen, was formally dismissed that year from the ministry. He was arrested yesterday in Maryland and is being extradited back to Philadelphia. [CBS 3]
