Former Concord pastor is behind bars facing sex abuse charges

CONCORD, N.C. —

Robert Price was released from the Mecklenburg County jail Tuesday evening on $120,000 bond. This followed his arrest on five counts of child sex abuse charges.

Some of those charges date back to 2011 when a 23-year-old man told Charlotte Mecklenburg police that Price molested him when he was 12 years old. That was when Price was a youth minister at his father's church, Kings Way Baptist Church in Concord.

Authorities said Price left the country and traveled to Nicaragua just before warrants were issued against him. He's been gone ever since, until Monday.

Price traveled back to Charlotte Monday night and CMPD airport police were notified about the warrants against him. He was taken into custody immediately.

Today, we spoke to the attorney of one of the alleged victims.

"I thought it would be good for him to come back and face charges in court and let the evidence fall where it falls," Seth Langson said.

Langson said his client filed a civil lawsuit against Price and Kings Way Church in 2011. That case has been resolved.

Members of his former church were surprised to hear he was back in town and are glad he returned to face the charges.
