A former youth pastor for an Enterprise church has been sentenced to serve three years in jail after he pleaded guilty to raping a teenage girl

The Dothan Eagle reports ( http://bit.ly/1hBuHUs) 26-year-old Timothy Thomas pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree rape after being arrested last March.

Thomas was fired after his arrest from his job as a youth pastor at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Police say the rape took place sometime between February and March last year and that Thomas sent sexually explicit text messages to the girl he was charged with raping.

Coffee County prosecutor Chris Kamanski says Thomas will get credit for time he served in jail awaiting trial, which totals about 280 days. After being released he must register as a sex offender.
