A former youth pastor will spend 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to having sex with a minor.

Officials say Shaun Michael Ross worked as a youth pastor at Calvary Assembly Church in Walkersville. He was facing two charges of sexual abuse of a minor following an indictment in July.

The inappropriate relationship between the 33-year-old and the female minor went on for years between April 2008 and April 2010.

Ross was sentenced to 25 years with 18 months suspended and five months of probation. Officials say if Ross violates his probation, they can reenact the rest of his sentence. He will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
