An Anglican priest stationed at St Annes Goto Mission High School is under fire after he was allegedly caught by his wife pants down with a married senior woman advisor from the church.

Reverend T N Mavhezha, who has spent less than six months at the school, was alleged to have decided to quench his sexual appetite with a History teacher’s wife identified only as Mai Motsi.

However, Rev Mavhezha vehemently denies the allegations and accuses detractors of defaming him.

According to the version of events being denied by Rev Mavhezha, he elevated Mai Motsi to a Youth and Mother advisor.

Their alleged illicit affair is reported to have started before Rev Mavhezha was assigned to the mission.

Reports say Mavhezha’s wife, who is a student at a college in Mutare, went home following a tip off and had to break into the house where Mai Motsi was holed up in with Rev Mavhezha.

Mai Motsi’s husband reportedly collapsed in disbelief after he was called to witness the incident and the whole neighbourhood is awash with the story.

When H-Metro visited the school and witnessed the damaged door, Mai Motsi denied the allegations saying it is church politics against her elevation to lead youths and mothers.

“My struggle continues with church members who are against my position. I was assigned by the priest to lead youths and advise mothers,” said Mai Motsi.

“I knew Rev Muvhezha since the Anglican squabbles before he was assigned here and together with my friend and Rev Muvhezha we were arrested by police at one time.

“The congregation queries my elevation to the positions because I am not legally married. Unofanira kunge wakachata kuti uve mutungamiri wemadzimai.

“I am not in love with Reverend Muvhezha. I am married and all is being said in order to tarnish our image. Matosvika here kwaReverend kwacho vati kudii nazvo?” said Mai Motsi.

Mai Motsi’s husband Mr Motsi could neither deny nor confirm the story referring H-Metro to the school headmaster.

“I am a civil servant my dear and I am not allowed to speak to the press maybe the school headmaster can furnish you with finer details,” said Motsi.

Rev Mavhezha, who is the priest responsible for four schools and 26 Anglican assemblies in Wedza said the reports were meant to tarnish his image.

“I was not here for the past three days and I arrived late and failed to locate my keys’ that is the reason why I destroyed the door by breaking the keys and I am still to repair it.

“My wife came yesterday from Mutatre where she is a student at a college there and you cannot speak to her about this issue. Tell me who took the story to H-Metro.

“The school head is not around so just give me details of those who are spreading falsehoods to tarnish my image.

“I visit different assemblies for God’s work and some people are against that.

“I started ministering in 1999 and I have less than a year here so these are issues to test my faith and meant to tarnish my image,” said Rev Muvhezha.

Rev Muvhezha’s wife referred all questions to her husband.

“I have nothing to comment; you can speak to Rev Muvhezha.

“He is around to talk to you concerning anything you want to know, said Rev Muvhezha’s wife.

Efforts to get a comment from the school headmaster Runyowa were unsuccessful. H Metro
