YORK Arrest warrants have been issued for a York pastor already on North Carolina's sex offender registry who is now accused of sexual contact of a child at his church.

Police have issued warrants for Cory Dean Moses, 38, of Charlotte, who was a pastor of New Mount Zion Church on Hwy. 321 and at Redeemed Christian Ministry on Ross Cannon Street at the time of the incidents. Both churches are in York.

Five warrants were issued, four for incidents at New Mount Zion in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and one at redeemed Christian Ministry in 2013. The charges include assault, criminal sexual conduct with a minor and committing or attempting a lewd act.

The female victim, now 19, claims the harassment started in 2009 when she was 14. Moses told the girl he "always liked the way she looked" and that she "filled out nicely," the report states. She said he touched her inappropriately several times and exposed himself to her, according to a York police report.

Det. Rich Caddell with the York Police Department said he was sure there are more victims.

"I can't imagine there's only one," Caddell said. "He used his position in the church to influence (his victims) not to tell anyone."

In 2003, Moses was convicted of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

At the time of the 2003 trial, The Charlotte Observer reported that Moses was charged with one count of rape, two counts of statutory sex offense and four counts of taking indecent liberties with minors. There were two female victims, both of whom were under the age of 16.

Moses was a pastor at Faith Chapel Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Gastonia, N.C., at the time of the incidents.

Both Faith Chapel and New Mount Zion are members of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God of the Americas, an international organization headquartered in Greenville, S.C. There is no contact information available for the headquarters or New Mount Zion, which closed and has been replaced by another church.

Caddell said they've tried to talk to officials at Redeemed Christian Ministry, but have been unable to make contact.

When he was arrested in 2002, Moses signed a statement saying that he told police "he might have accidentally rubbed his genitals against both girls," the Observer reported. During his trial, Moses denied saying that and said he felt pressure to sign the statement because he wanted to leave the police station.

He told the court he felt "violated" by the officer's questioning.

Moses was found guilty of two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor. He was supposed to serve 20 to 24 months in prison for one count and be on probation for two years on the second count. He also had to register as a sex offender and was not allowed to interact with minors for about 10 years.

Under state law, because he was working in the state, Moses should have also registered as a sex offender in South Carolina. Caddell said Moses will also be charged with failing to register.

York police is working to extradite Moses from North Carolina.

Anyone with information about incidents involving Moses is asked to call the York Police Department at (803) 684-4141.
