Brandon Milburn

The sex abuse case against a 26-year-old former Valencia man who worked part-time at a Santa Clarita Valley church goes before a grand jury in Missouri Wednesday, The Signal has learned.

Brandon Milburn is charged with six felony counts of first-degree statutory sodomy for allegedly molesting multiple victims between 2007 and 2009 in Missouri. He was in custody Wednesday in St. Louis.

On Wednesday, a grand jury in St. Louis will “be assigned” to review his case, said Det. Edward Magee, of the St. Louis County Police Department.

Milburn had initially been scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing. However, depending on what the grand jury decides, that scheduled hearing may change, Magee explained.

Milburn, who came to California in 2010, had worked part time at the Real Life Church on Newhall Ranch Road. The church’s Facebook page informed members that the St. Louis suspect worked at the church for 5 1/2 months but was no longer employed there.

Milburn had recently moved to Valencia from Simi Valley, Real Life Church Executive Pastor Fred Gray said a month ago when news of the charges first emerged.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges against Milburn Feb. 7 for six counts of statutory sodomy in the first degree, according to a news release issued by St. Louis police Officer Brian Schellman.

According to a copy of the criminal complaint filed against Milburn by St. Louis prosecutors and obtained by The Signal Wednesday, Milburn is alleged to have engaged two boys, each under 12 years old, in sexual contact which included touching the penis of each boy, having them touch his penis and performing oral sex on each of them.

Each of the incidents is alleged to have taken place on, or about, June 1, 2007.

Milburn was arrested after arriving in Missouri to attend a function this month.
