See the article pasted below….

A reminder that Australia’s Cardinal George Pell is scheduled to take the stand tomorrow morning in Sydney Australia as a witness at the Australian Royal Commission into child sex abuse.  In  Sydney, Australia the hearings start at 10 am tomorrow morning (Monday 24 March 2014.)  For those on Eastern Standard Time (EST) as we in Southern Ontario, Canada are, that means the start time is 7 pm this evening (Sunday, 23 March 2014)

Cardinal Pell is testifying specifically in relation to the inquiry into the Sydney Archdiocese’s handling of the clerical sex abuse allegation of John Ellis – that segment of the Commission of Inquiry (regarding Mr. Ellis) is identified on the commission website as Case Study 8.

I will re-post directions to access the commission webcam:

The inquiry into matters related to Mr. Ellis is referred to as “Case Study 8 March 2014″  Click here to access the relevant page for Case Study 8 on the commission website.

And, click here to link to the “Webcasts” page.  Case Study 8 is the second case down.  Click on “You can watch proceedings from Public Hearing – Case Study 8,”

That will open to this page.   Under the webcast at the right you will see an option of (1)  public hearing 9 from Adelaide, or (2)  public hearing 8 from Sydney.  Click on the latter.

I’m not sure when the webcast will be turned on – probably not until 15 minutes or so before the hearings commence.  Unfortunately it’s impossible to fully test the process until the webcast is operational, so get yourself familiar with the commission website and process and, come 6:45 pm (EST) start trying to get the webcast to run.  Right now the webcast will not operate, but only I believe because nothing is being broadcast – it kwwps flipping form page to page.  Until the hearing commences there won’t be anything to watch, but, a few minutes before start time technicians should be testing their equipment to ensure it’s up and running, and at that time  there should be a screen message of some sort?

I plan/hope to watch.  Whether or not I can last through tot he end remains to be seen, but I will do my best.  I will let you know if I access the webcast successfully, and will also let you know if I have trouble doing so.  If there are problems perhaps those of us who are interested can work it out amongst ourselves?

Finally, a reminder that Pope Francis chose Cardinal Pell as Prefect for the new Secretariat for the Economy at the Vatican.  Pell will be on his way to his new ‘job’ after he testifies.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
