William Best (DCSO)

A Dallas County pastor is behind bars after being charged with raping an underage family member.

William Best, 47, is charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and incest, Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman Jr. told WSFA.

Best served as the pastor of Living Waters Worship Center in Valley Grande for three years until the church's board of directors fired him after the arrest.

The Selma Times-Journal reported the alleged sexual abuse started three years ago when the victim was 14 years old.

Best is accused of having sex with the girl numerous times at his church office and home.

Best is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $250,000 bond.

Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson told WSFA he plans to ask for a higher bond.
