Fred King will be back in Court on Wednesday to answer charges in Church assault.

(Owen Sound) -

The leader of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored, is back behind bars at Penetanguishene.

55 year old Fred King had a brief court appearance in Owen Sound on Monday, where his case was put over until Wednesday for a bail hearing.

King was known as "The Prophet", and leader of the cult-like group just outside of Chatsworth, south of Owen Sound.

He was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant prior to his arrest in Hamilton last Friday.

King had disappeared after former members of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored in Chatsworth went to police in 2012 with allegations of physical and sexual abuse.

Now he faces 25 charges including 10 counts of assault, as well as charges of uttering death threats, assault causing bodily harm and sexual assault.

A publication ban is now in effect on the court case.

In her book, "Property: The True Story of a Polygamous Church Wife" released in 2013, Carol Christie described several acts of assault she suffered before escaping.

She was a church member for several decades, and was one of several wives of the "Prophet" before finally breaking free a few years ago.

As a result of her allegations, the OPP launched a 16 month probe into the church.

Last Monday, police announced charges had been filed against two brothers.

59-year old Judson William King of Oakville was arrested last week on six charges.

He will appear in Owen Sound court on May 15th.
