Bangalore, April 19: An Irish woman registered a complaint of sexual abuse by a 61-year-old Christian pastor while she was taking a nap in the air-conditioned resting room at the Bangalore railway station on Friday April 18. The foreigner was on a tour in India.

The police had arrested Kashinath (61) of Davangere immediately after the compliant was registered.

The 31-year-old tourist travelled from Hampi to Bangalore on Thursday and had booked another

train ticket to reach Ernakulam, Kerala. Since the train was scheduled at 5.30 pm, she decided to stay back and rest at the railway station.

Incident :

Sources say that the tourist suffered illness due to the weather change, especially the heat. In a move to help her, the alleged Kashinath who had also traveled to Bangalore by the same train, began speaking to her in English. He helped her carry the luggage from the train to the rest room. While she was napping, Kashinath in a bid to cover her with bedsheet, allegedly made advances and went on to hug her.

The woman screamed for help and asked him to go out. When other commuters including the railway police rushed to the spot, Kashinath absconded from the scene. However, the police managed to arrest him immediately.

The police have registered a case under section 354A. “Kashinath is a pastor who often visited Bangalore for preaching,” said railway SP Siddramappa.

As she was ill, the victim was taken to the Malleswaram KC General Hospital for treatment. On Friday morning, the police helped her book another tick?e?t to Kerala so that she could continue her tour in India.
