George The Archdiocese of Chicago says Cardinal Francis George will give a video-recorded deposition about a former priest who has been convicted of abusing children.

Archdiocese spokeswoman Colleen Dolan said the cardinal would answer attorney questions Thursday regarding Daniel McCormack. She called it a "routine part of the court process." Dolan says the deposition is being done in case George isn't physically able in the future. George recently had chemotherapy for cancer near his right kidney.

McCormack pleaded guilty in 2007. George said after McCormack's indictment he should have pushed harder for details about the allegations. The cardinal launched an investigation that found church procedures for removing priests were "far from perfect."

McCormack was arrested earlier this month for aggravated criminal sexual abuse in a 2005 case involving a 10-year-old victim.
