After the arrest of Christian radio host John Baylo on child-sex allegations, supporters of his wife, Bethany, and her son are raising funds on her behalf.

Organizers set a $50,000 goal for the online fund drive.

“I hope many small donations turn into a river of blessing for you,” a donor wrote. “May God's love show through these tokens of support for you and your son.”

The website said: “On June 20, 2014, Bethany and her son's world was turned upside down by unforeseen circumstances. A new bride of just seven weeks, this now single mom is now experiencing something that no person should have to endure. Bethany has always been the first one to reach out and help others, now it's our turn to help her and her son.”

The funds are expected to cover expenses for counseling, medical care, loss of income and typical living expenses as result of “these tragic circumstances.”

So far, $6,340 has been raised, the website showed. Donors include friends and strangers who want to help after John Balyo’s arrest.

Balyo is charged with first-degree criminal-sexual conduct involving an 11-year-old boy. Police say he paid a Battle Creek man to arrange encounters with children. He was arrested at a Christian musical festival in Gaylord.

On Wednesday, federal authorities confirmed that Balyo rented a storage unit where he kept a “bondage” kit that included handcuffs and chains. Police say they also found a padlock, rubber gloves and children’s socks.

Investigators also found folders with magazines and articles about missing children, and children's obituaries, according to a Homeland Security source. The source confirmed that police found a publication, titled "Gauntlet," that talked about erotic photography.

While Balyo is locked up, his wife’s supporters offered cash and prayers.

“My heart has been bleeding for all of these victims,” wrote a woman who donated $100. “So glad to find a place where I can help. Bethany I haven't stopped thinking about you and your son since this was disclosed. What a storm, stay strong!”

Another said that many want to help Bethany Balyo and her son.

“Don't be afraid to take advantage of that or even to say that you need some time and space to grieve and process! I am praying without ceasing for you and your family!” she wrote.

A woman who donated $50 wrote: “We've never met but as a sister in Christ and a fellow Caledonia resident, my heart aches for Bethany and (her son). I pray she will find strength and courage to fearlessly lean on friends and family through this difficult time. Thank you to the individuals that took the initiative to create this page in support of them."

Another said she didn’t know the wife, but “we are deeply grieved and hurting for the pain you must be going through.”

One man, who donated $50, said: "John is a friend I have worked with and I am praying for him and you as you go down this difficult road.”
