An arrest warrant has been issued for pastor Clifton Wells after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.

In August, the girl's mother sought a protection order against Wells. That order was denied by Judge William Zastera.

Since then, the Sarpy County Attorney's office did file an arrest warrant and Judge Stefanie Martinez agreed to it.

Wells was the pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ (not affiliated with the Latter Day Saints).

"We were closer than like a doctor, or a family attorney, he was like part of the family. This was our church family, this was our church leader, our minister, so we trusted him, emphatically," said Harris.

The alleged sexual assault did not happen there. The affidavit says it happened when Wells took the girl to get a job application.

"She walked over to me and she collapsed about right there in the spot you were, and she just was in hysterics crying, and she said mom, 'please don't ever send him with me again, Brother Clifton was touching me inappropriately," said Harris.

The mother says Wells had been her pastor for more than 30 years and she trusted him like family.

“He violated my child,” she said. “He violated my trust, so it is just overwhelming."

The child has since been diagnosed with PTSD and is receiving therapy on a weekly basis.

WOWT 6 News reached out to Wells' lawyer, but he didn't return our calls for comment.
