Church Layman Gets 5 Years for Sex with Girl

A former layman at Bloomville United Methodist Church was convicted Friday of gross sexual imposition and sentenced to the maximum five years in prison.

Emanuel Lewis, 61, of New Washington, Ohio, was found guilty by a jury in Seneca County Common Pleas Court. Judge Steve Shuff also ordered him to pay restitution of $692 to the victim’s family and to register as a sex offender.

The jury acquitted him of kidnapping for the March 28 incident in which he had sexual contact with a girl, 12,who was a member of the church.
