Spotsylvania Youth Pastor Guilty of Indecent Liberties with Girl

A Spotsylvania County man who served as a youth minister at a local church pleaded guilty to custodial indecent liberties with a 17-year-old girl.

Timothy Ralph Noszek Jr., 33, waived indictment and entered an Alford guilty plea in Spotsylvania Circuit Court last Thursday. An Alford plea means that he does not admit guilt, but acknowledges that there is enough evidence for a conviction.

Noszek received a suspended five-year sentence and must register as a sex offender. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim for five years or unsupervised contact with juveniles not related to him, under the plea agreement.

He had served about two months in jail following his arrest last fall.

According to the plea agreement, a deputy responded to the back parking lot in the 11000 block of Gordon Road around 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 10 for a report about two suspicious parked cars. The cars were spotted there at least five times in the two weeks prior to this incident, the agreement said.

When the deputy arrived, he found Noszek and a 17-year-old girl in the car.

In separate interviews, Noszek told the deputy that he was the teen’s youth pastor and a close friend of her parents. He said he was giving her some receipts to give to her parents. The girl told the deputy that she was there to help him clean out his car, the plea agreement said.

The teen’s parents were called to pick her up and told the deputy that they had been concerned that Noszek had been having an inappropriate relationship with their daughter for about two years, starting when she was 15, the agreement said.

Further investigation revealed that the two began a romantic relationship in December 2013. According to court documents, the relationship eventually led to sex acts in the parking lot.

The teen told police that “she and defendant were in love with each other, but that unless something happened to [Noszek’s] wife, they couldn’t get married.”

An investigation was started to see if there was any evidence of intent to harm his wife but none was found, the agreement said.

A forensic examination of both of their cellphones and email accounts revealed hundreds of text messages, emails and other evidence of a long-term relationship, the agreement said.

Noszek, who is married with children, was a youth minister at Ni River Community Church off Five Mile Road in Spotsylvania, where the teen was an active member.

According to the agreement, Noszek did not allow the deputy to tell his wife why he was being arrested and spontaneously stated things like, “I never thought this would happen,” “This is all my fault” and “Do not think negatively about God, because this was all my fault by my own flesh and blood.”

Ni River Community Church has since named an interim youth pastor.
