OSAGE COUNTY, Okla. (KOKI)– U.S. Marshals Service arrested Donald Carter at an airport in Florida as he returned from Colombia.

Donald Carter’s ex-wife says it’s hard to look at old pictures. She was in love with her husband, who, she says, was a well-respected pastor for six years.

“I don’t want him to touch any other… young girls.”

Carter’s ex-wife didn’t want to be identified, but she says multiple women approached her shortly after she granted him the split. She says the alleged victims confided in her at different times, telling her he had raped them when they were children.

“It’s unbelievable that it happened. And it’s so wrong.”

Carter’s ex-wife says she was duped; the couple was married for nearly 40 years.

“It was shocking… for him to want a divorce.”

Osage County prosecutors are planning to file one rape charge next week, from a case they say happened back in 2006.

Investigators believe they will be able to pin more rape charges on Carter in the future. But, they are fighting against time.

The statute of limitations here in Oklahoma for rape is 12 years. Detectives think this could have been going on long before that.

“I guess in my fantasy life, it wasn’t real. But these girls have to live with it… a long long time. A lot longer than I will.”

Investigators say Carter skipped town in January. They flagged him so that when he tried to come back to the U.S., law enforcement would know to arrest him.
