Local Youth Pastor Charged With Raping Teenager

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

A McCracken County youth pastor charged with raping a teenager was in court on Wednesday.

McCracken County deputies arrested 44-year-old Michael Parsons Tuesday.

Parsons is a youth pastor at Milburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He has 24 total charges, including two counts of third degree rape.

Deputies say the minister began a relationship with the girl in the spring of 2013 when she was 16.

It allegedly continued through 2014.

Deputies say sexual incidents occurred during youth group meetings, on the way to the girl's home in McCracken County, and at Parsons' home in Kevil.

Parsons is also accused of sending explicit photographs and videos to the teen in text messages.

His bond is set at $50,000.

A judge told him he cannot have contact with the girl or be on the internet.

His next court appearance is March 17th at 1:00 p.m.
