A Roman Catholic brother, who taught in Pittsburgh for years, has been convicted of sexual abuse in Australia.

Brother Bernard Hartman taught at North Catholic High School for parts of the 60’s and late 1970’s. However, he held a more permanent role in a Troy Hill school from 1986-97

Hartman was accused of sexually abusing a student while at North Catholic and was the subject of a credible allegation of abuse.

However, it was his apparent actions in Australia that has him scheduled to appear in court on July 8 for sentencing.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Hartman pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault in the 1970’s. The victims were two girls whose brothers went to the school where he taught in Melbourne.

The 75-year-old also pleaded not guilty to charges of abusing two boys, but was convicted on one count of indecent assault.
