A Marianist brother who worked at the former North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill neighborhood has pleaded guilty to sex charges in Australia and will be sentenced there, according to an Australian newspaper.

Brother Bernard Hartman, 75, abused three children in Melbourne in the 1970s and 80s. He taught science at North Catholic until 1997.

The Maribyrnong & Hobsons Bay Star Weekly reported Hartman pleaded guilty to indecent assault charges.

The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh alerted North Catholic alumni to the allegations last year.

Channel 11’s news exchange partners at TribLIVE report that the diocese received a complaint about abuse by Hartman here, but he was not charged with a crime.
