SHERWOOD, Ore. -- Archbishop Alexander Sample led Sunday mass at a Sherwood church whose pastor fled the country in a bathroom spycam scandal.

A warrant has been issued for Father Ysrael Bien, who was accused of placing the hidden camera in a bathroom at St. Francis Church. Bien is now in his native Philippines and police are trying to track him down.

Archbishop Alexander Sample apologized to the congregation, adding he knows this is a difficult time.

"I know your faith has been shaken by recent events," Sample said. "I understand. I am sorry beyond words for the pain and anguish you have been suffering."

A group called the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) handed out pamphlets to churchgoers after mass.

The group hopes victims and witnesses come forward. They also want the archbishop to disclose all churches where Father Bien spent time.

"They need to be more proactive in doing the right thing and preventing somebody from fleeing the country when there is an active investigation," said SNAP Oregon leader Jeannie Cratty.
