A former Christian pastor who admitted abusing a 13 year-old victim who was allegedly "offered" to him by the victim's father has been jailed for more than ten years.

David Volmer, 41, who was also known as Dawid Volmer, pleaded guilty earlier this year to 12 offences, including indecent dealing with a child, sexual penetration of a child and stupefying with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He will have to serve more than eight years in prison before he is eligible for parole - and had his jail time reduced by two years after promising to give evidence against the girl's father, who has been charged with sex offences against his daughter.

At a sentencing hearing at WA's District Court today, Judge Mark Herron was told how Volmer offered sexual massage services on an advert on website Craigslist - which the girl's father responded to.

After arranging a meeting a park in Joondalup, Volmer later told police he realised the girl was not 16 as her father claimed - but arranged another meeting at a hotel anyway, where the first abuse took place.

There, in early 2014, he massaged the naked girl while naked himself, while her father watched. He also rubbed himself against the girl, who began to cry, and gave her amyl nitrate which had bought at a sex shop.

Her father chastised his daughter for getting upset, and left, the court heard.

A year later, Volmer contacted the girl's father again, and arranged to come to their house in a northern suburb of Perth.

The two men arranged that she would be told that Volmer was blackmailing the father and so had to meet Volmer again. Volmer then walked into their house, which had been left unlocked, with the girl naked and blindfolded on the bed. The father was also in the bedroom blindfolded.

Volmer then engaged in penetrative sexual activity with the girl, whilst also giving her amyl nitrate.

Volmer then arranged another meeting with the girl weeks later, where he engaged in even more serious sexual activity at their house, while giving her the drug again.

Volmer's lawyer Nick Scerri said his behaviour was part of a sexual double life he was leading behind his wife's back, which eventually saw him cross the line into abusing the young girl.

Before his arrest, Volmer was a pastor at a branch of the South African-based ACTS Christian Church in Carramar, which was closed after he admitted the offences in July.

The church said in a statement that they could offer "no excuses for such disgraceful and disgusting behaviour."

The married Volmer had also been the head of the WA Prison Fellowship Program - an outreach scheme for inmates — but he also resigned from that position after he was charged.

Questions have been raised in WA parliament about what access Volmer was granted to young inmates during his time with the fellowship program, with corrections minister Joe Francis admitting he had met him during a meeting about the organisation.

Judge Herron described Volmer's actions as deviant and immoral, given he knew at their first meeting she was no older than 13 but still abused her three times.

The judge said the 10 year, six month sentence was in line with his criminality - but reduced it by two years because he had given an undertaking that he would give evidence against the girl's father in any future court case.

Through his lawyer, Volmer issued an apology saying he wished he could shout sorry " from the rooftops"
