A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a former St Stanislaus’ College priest accused of historic indecent and sexual assaults in Bathurst.

Glenn Michael Humphreys, 62, is already serving time in a Western Australia jail on four charges of molesting a 15-year-old boy in Perth in the 1980s.

He was recently denied parole and was not in Bathurst Local Court when magistrate Michael Allen issued the warrant for his arrest on further charges.

Humphreys is accused of seven counts of indecent assault against a male and a further seven charges of sexual assault (category 4) indecent act against a person aged over 14 but under 16.

The new charges date back to his time working at St Stanislaus’ College in the 1970s and early 1980s. No pleas have yet been entered for the new charges.

Police are expected to arrest Humphreys once he is released from prison in Western Australia to be extradited to NSW to face the new charges.

Mr Allen confirmed Humphreys’ bail had been revoked in Western Australia and adjourned the Bathurst matter until November 30, 2015.

During sentencing submissions to Western Australia’s District Court last October, defence lawyer Seamus Rafferty argued there was an “immature context” to Humphreys’ offending in the Perth matter rather than any form of grooming, adding his client was “deeply remorseful” and had engaged in rehabilitation, which Judge Philip Eaton accepted.

Judge Eaton also accepted that Humphreys was a low-risk of re-offending but said the pair formed a “grossly inappropriate” relationship and general deterrence was important.

He sentenced Humphreys to 22 months in prison, with a minimum of 11 months non-parole.
