Christian Democrat MP Fred Nile has welcomed investigations into alleged paedophile networks in the Hunter

Christian Democrat MP Fred Nile has applauded probes into Newcastle's Anglican Diocese, amid allegations of several paedophile networks.

Earlier this month, the ABC aired allegations about widespread paedophile networks involving politicians, senior businessmen, doctors, lawyers and teachers.

Christian Democrats MP Fred Nile said abuse by clergy in the Hunter has been on his radar for many years.

"I think these paedophiles have infiltrated into every area where they have access to children, and that obviously applies to the church," he said.

He previously used parliamentary privilege to raise concerns about Anglican paedophiles preying on boys at children's homes, alleging they were involved in a wider paedophile ring.

Reverend Nile said it is crucial New South Wales Police and the Royal Commission expose what has gone on.

"I don't think there's any area that shouldn't be scrutinised, and these people seem to be in positions of influence," he said.

He has spent the weekend in the Hunter meeting with several people, including clergy abuse survivors.

"This has been a burning issue for me before I even got into parliament, trying to expose these paedophile networks," he said.

"I've had some priests a few years ago complain to me about some of the things that have been going on there, and we've been very concerned that there seemed to be no one getting charged by the police."
