TEMPERANCE, MI (13abc Action News) - The Archdiocese of Detroit said there is a credible allegation of sexual abuse against a late priest and pastor known as Father David West.
West served in about 20 parishes across southeast Michigan. He also served as administrator at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Temperance, as well as parishes in Livonia, Eastpointe, Dearborn Heights and Rockwood.
West died in 2004 at the age of 65 before anyone came forward with sexual abuse allegations.
Church leaders said the abuse happened in the 1970s, and the victim was male. They released the information in order to find any other victims and offer them counseling services.
If you or someone you know was abused by a priest or another person working for the Archdiocese of Detroit, you're asked to email the victim assistance coordinator at the Archdiocese of Detroit at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 866-343-8055.
