Rev. Adam Egan was arrested on Wednesday in Colonie.

An episcopal priest is facing charges.

Colonie police say he was caught taking video of a woman changing inside a dressing room at the Salvation Army in Latham.

It's Christmas Eve, a time when religious leaders of the Christian faith are getting ready for afternoon or evening prayers. But instead episcopal priest Adam Egan is looking at felony charges.

Father Adam Egan, a pastor at St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Delmar will not participate in the church’s holiday celebrations. The 35-year-old pastor was arrested, accused of trying to record video of a woman inside a dressing room.

“I was immediately petrified. I felt totally violated,” admitted the alleged victim.

Rev. Adam Egan has served as the rector at St. Stephens in Delmar since 2010.

She didn’t want to be identified, but spoke to NewsChannel 13 on the phone, explaining just how it all played out at the Salvation Army Store on Troy Schenectady Road in Latham on Wednesday afternoon.

She says she was inside the changing room in her under wear when she noticed a cellphone peeking over the curtain.

“I felt like a deer caught in headlights. I wasn't believing what I was actually seeing, even though I knew what I was looking at,” she recalled.

She says she immediately called police and her mother grabbed a hold of Father Egan to keep him in the store.

“I was screaming to him. I was so upset that I wanted to hurt him,” she admitted.

Investigators say police caught up with him a short time later. They say he also tried to delete the video on the phone. He was charged with unlawful surveillance and tampering with evidence.

Calls to the Episcopal Diocese were not returned. Parishioners we spoke to would not go on camera. They only say that this was a shock to the entire congregation, they're all sad and they are praying for Father Egan.

“I'm upset, hurt and angry that I'm a victim myself. But I'm glad that I was the victim that hopefully will put an end to this,” she noted.

The alleged victim says she hopes she was the only victim and that Father Egan will get the help that he needs to prevent this from happening to anyone else.
