The man charged with kidnapping a 17-year-old appeared in court Wednesday morning for a bond hearing. Some new details involving the case were brought out in the hearing, including the first mention that the teenager may have been the victim of sexual abuse.

Reginald Reed, 55, appeared in court for his bond hearing this morning without an attorney. Reed is charged with kidnapping a 17-year-old boy who was found shot and stabbed inside the trunk of a vehicle in the parking lot of Corpus Christi Church on December 13.

Judge George Hardesty read the allegations from the complaint filed by a Youth Services Detective. The document contains the first mention of possible sexual abuse in the case.

It states Reed abducted the teenager; "with the intent to inflict physical injury", or to "violate or abuse (him) sexually".

Even though the age of consent is 16 in Alabama, police have said the teen had been living with Reed since he was 14 years old.

Reed spoke out about the relationship as he was being taken to Metro Jail Monday.

"I loved that little guy. I loved him more than his own family did," Reed said.

Police have already said more charges could be filed in the case. In addition to sexual abuse the criminal complaint introduced in court today mentions multiple injuries the teen received during the assault.

Prosecutors recommended no bond for Reed. Reed was convicted of felony marijuana possession in 1995, and served 3 years probation. The judge said Reed is not currently on any form of probation or parole, and is therefore entitled to bond, which he set at 40 thousand dollars.

Reed has not yet made bond. he remains in metro jail tonight. If he does get out the judge has ordered him to have no contact with the teenager.

There was some confusion about Reed's lawyer Wednesday. Reed initially told the judge he was represented by Marcus Foxx. However, Foxx told FOX10 News he does not represent Reed.

Reed's next court date is an arraignment set for Wednesday, January 6.
