Ex-coach Charged with Having Sex with 17-year-old Player

Allegany County law enforcers have charged a high school soccer coach with having sex with a 17-year-old female player.

Twenty-four-year-old Catherine Martha Czapski of Cumberland was charged in a criminal summons with five counts of fourth-degree sex offense by a person in position of authority. The charges were reported Tuesday in a news release by Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit.

The agency says Czapski was the girl’s soccer coach at Bishop Walsh High School in Cumberland. Authorities began investigating after the Archdiocese of Baltimore received information about the alleged inappropriate relationship.
