"Bishop Finn needs to be defrocked, demoted and disciplined," said Judy Jones with the group SNAP, which stands for Survivor’s Network of those Abused by Priests.

Some want a bishop in Lincoln to be removed from the church.

In 2012, Bishop Robert Finn was found guilty of failing to report suspected child abuse.

And now that he's relocated to minister here in Lincoln, some residents want him out of the church, completely.

Jones adds, "we are here today to hand–deliver a letter to Bishop Conley, begging him to reverse his decision to have Bishop Finn minister in the diocese."

Bishop Robert Finn has been ministering with the School Sisters of Christ the King here in Lincoln since December.

And protestors say he should not be allowed to hold any job within the Catholic church.

"This kind of enabling, the enabler of a child predator will not be tolerated in my city," said local rallier, Elle Hansen.

Jones adds, "the perpetrators definitely have to be kept away from kids. But what really hurts the victims is the church officials who cover it up and continue to enable child predators to continue to abuse more kids. That's what Finn did."

After being found guilty of failing to report suspected child abuse, Finn was given 2 years' probation and retired from his position in Kansas City.

"The Diocese of Lincoln takes the protection of children seriously," said J.D. Flynn with the Diocese of Lincoln.

Flynn says, although Finn currently ministers here in the city, he does not hold a position of any authority.

"Bishop Finn in his administrative role in Missouri, made mistakes which were crimes and he faced legal consequences for that. In the Diocese of Lincoln, in his retirement, he is serving as a chaplain to a community of religious sisters. He is not exercising administrative authority,” Flynn explains.

As Chaplain, Finn's job with the sisterhood is to help celebrate mass and other religious events.

The one thing both parties agreed on today was… if you are, or know anyone being abused, in or outside the church, you should call the police immediately.
