BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A former Vermont man who was studying to be a priest is accused of trying to have sex with infants.

Investigators say Joel Wright -- who now lives in Ohio -- traveled to San Diego with the intent of meeting with a trafficker -- who would take him to Mexico where he would adopt or own a child -- and then have sex with the infant.

Wright -- who was in seminary school for a semester -- has since been suspended.

The former Burlington man is now facing multiple sex crime charges.
