Joel A. Wright, 23, was arrested last Friday suspected of planning to rape infants

The Ohio priest-in-training who was arrested last Friday accused of attempting to travel to Mexico to have sex with multiple infants allegedly posted an ad to Craigslist last year offering to pay $150 to babysit.

Joel A. Wright, who was busted in San Diego after communicating with an undercover Homeland Security agent online seeking help to arrange the rape of babies as young as one year, waived his right to a detention hearing and declined to seek bail Thursday, the Times of San Diego reported.

Wright, 23, had been investigated by police before, NBC4I reported.

Police in Steubenville, Ohio said Wright posted a Craigslist ad last year in which he offered to pay a willing family $150 to watch children.

The ad reportedly suggested parents leave their children with Wright and go shopping or to a movie.

To one mother who responded to the add, Wright said he was a student at Franciscan University.

Ads posted to Craigslist were also what led investigators to arrest Wright last Friday.

A criminal complaint states investigators were alerted to Wright's Mexican plans when the seminary student began communicating with an individual in Tijuana after posting a Craigslist ad about adopting a child there.

According to the complaint, the communication between Wright and the other individual began in 2014.

Wright was a student at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. He was arrested last Friday in San Diego suspected of attempting to buy babies to commit sex acts against them

After the individual reported Wright to Homeland Security investigators via CyberTipline in November last year, an agent took over the reporting individual's account.

Emailing back and forth with the undercover agent, Wright allegedly admitted that he sought to 'buy' children in Tijuana to commit sex acts against.

The complaint reveals horrifying details of Wright's plans.

In one email, Wright allegedly wrote that he hoped a child he believed he was about to rape would resist.

'If she is angry at me she will be even more fun because she will probably try to get away and it is so much more fun when it is a bit of a struggle --- what do you think?' Wright allegedly wrote on December 6 last year.

Wright, who studied to be a priest at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, initally planned to travel to Mexico on December 11, but got cold feet, stayed home, and stopped emailing with the undercover agent.

But on December 28, he posted another Craigslist ad seeking a 'female tour guide' to help him navigate Tijuana.

'Looking for a female who can help me when I visit and show me local attractions and good food along with places to have fun and introduce me to good people. Please respond with your email and contact information and a pic,' the ad read.

The same person who originally reported Wright contacted the ad's sender, and realized the would-be pedophile had resumed his malicious plans.

Again, undercover agents took over the communication.

After Wright wrote the agent saying he had purchased a ticket to San Diego, the plan was set up to arrest him upon arrival in California.

Wright's next court appearance is scheduled for February 25.

He is charged with traveling with the intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor and attempting to engage in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign country.

Wright could face 60 years to life in prison.
