A self styled pastor and former teacher suspected to have sexually abused several children before he was caught has finally been hit with a defilement charge.

Pastor Mandla Keipheditse who hastily quit teaching under dubious circumstances last year to start a church is facing a single charge of sexually abusing a child under the age of 16.

The current case this week however prompted parents of 13 other children who claim to have been molested by the 30- year -old pastor when he was a teacher at Marakanelo Junior School to come forward.

Spokesperson for the aggrieved family that has already laid a charge against the pastor, Isaiah Mabote lambasted the notorious pastor for ruining, not one, but two of their children’s lives.

“Our 16 -year -old girl had to be admitted at Sbrana Psychiatric Hospital for counseling while her 18- year- old sister moved out of home to go and live with the pastor because he had made her pregnant.” Mabote said.

Pastor Keipheditse apparently started to abuse the two sisters sexually when they were still in their early teens.

“These girls shared everything in primary school but today they hate each other because of that man. We want justice to be done. He has to pay for the pain he has caused our family,” Mabote said.

The girls’ angry aunt, Elkas Motlhophele said that at one point the 13 young girls had wanted to jointly lay a charge of sexual molestation against the pastor but later chickened out when he threatened to shoot them and commit suicide.

In a recorded conversation between the pastor and one of the children, the suspected pedophile is heard threatening that if he were to go to jail people would die.

“I would buy me a short gun and once released from prison people would die and I would die too. Everybody involved would die; you don’t know that you are dealing with Boko Haram here? Whoever slept with me did that at her will, I didn’t use anyone,” he said in the conversation, which this publication is in possession of.

Asked why he uttered such threats, Keipheditse, who claims that his church is affiliated to the controversial Malawian Prophet Bushiri,’s church said, “the truth will come out one day. I am innocent. I resigned from work due to health issues and not because I was trying to run away from any crimes I had committed.”

He went on to dismiss the defilement case as trumpeted up charges orchestrated by his haters.

However Ghanzi Police Station Commander, Superintendent Isaac Bojang said police had registered a defilement case at the Magistrate court against Pastor Keipheditse.

The police boss went on to explain that although it was initially a single case of defilement more cases are likely to be registered against Keipheditse as investigations continue.

“Although I cannot divulge more information due to the nature of the case, I can tell you that more complaints are coming to us from as far as Ncojane and Kokole against this man.”

Meanwhile the youthful pastor is out on bail and set to appear back in court on April 14th.
