Former Priest John Feit will face a judge Monday morning.

State District Judge Luis Singleterry will hold an arraignment hearing for John Bernard Feit, 83, of Scottsdale, Arizona, at 9 a.m. Monday. Feit is charged with murder, a first-degree felony.

Investigators believe Feit killed McAllen beauty queen Irene Garza in April 1960.

After her death, the Catholic Church moved Feit to a monastery. He later left the priesthood and moved to Arizona.

Hidalgo County District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez asked investigators to re-examine the cold case in January 2015. Prosecutors took the case to a grand jury, which returned an indictment against Feit on Feb. 10.

Officers arrested Feit in Arizona, and investigators extradited him to Texas on Wednesday.
