S.A. youth league coach arrested on child sex abuse charge

[with video] SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio youth sports coach has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a child, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. Investigators said Jeffrey Ramos, 48, is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child. BCSO investigators were called to the victim’s school last Tuesday after being contacted by Child Protective Services. James Keith with BCSO said, "We don't believe that this is a false claim. There's evidence that supports that in fact did happen."
The victim told BCSO investigators that Ramos sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions during the summer of 2015 through December 2015.
Ramos was a coach with the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) at the time. The sheriff's office said it it unknown whether there are other victims in this case. Anyone who may have been victimized is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (210) 335-TIPS. According to the president of CYO at St. Anthony Claret, Ramos was an assistant on two girl's softball teams raging from elementary to middle school age. They said the victim is not part of the CYO program.
The Arch Diocese of San Antonio said Ramos received sexual misconduct training and was background checked. He had been a coach since Nov. 2014.
